Meet Andrew and Ben

Andrew McDonald and Ben Wood enjoy making books together.
They are the creators of the bestselling Real Pigeons series, the early graphic novel series Hello Twigs and the picture book Now You Are A Chicken.
Their work together has been translated into 26 languages and been recognised by the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) book of the year awards, the Australian Book Industry Awards and the kids’ choice YABBA, KOALA and KROC awards.

Andrew McDonald is an author who lives in Naarm/Melbourne. He has written more than 25 books, including the bestselling Real Pigeons series, the early graphic novel series Hello Twigs and the hilarious picture book Now You Are A Chicken.
His books have been recognised by the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) awards, the Australian Book Industry Awards and the Readings Children’s Book Prize.
Andrew loves writing stories that make kids laugh, gasp and wonder about the world. He is a passionate advocate for books, reading and engaging kids through creativity.

Ben Wood is the illustrator of the best-selling crime-fighting series Real Pigeons. He has illustrated over fifty books for kids such as the popular graphic novel series Hello Twigs, and picture books Now You Are A Chicken and Give Me A Home Among The Gumtrees.
His books have been shortlisted for many awards, including Real Pigeons Flap Out (CBCA Book of the Year 2024) and Real Pigeons Fight Crime (Australian Book Industry Awards and Readings Children’s Book Prize). He lives in Naarm/Melbourne.
